VIEW IN BROWSER | SUBSCRIBE MON, NOV 18, 2019 CNBC POLITICS EDITOR'S NOTE Hello,   Welcome to the second week of the House's public hearings in the impeachment probe into President Trump's Ukraine dealings.   Last week offered some dramatic moments, such as when Trump tweeted an attack on former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch while she was testifying. But this week could prove to be more consequential as Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland, who was directly involved in talks with Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, is set to be grilled.  Here's a look at this week's lineup:   Tuesday morning: Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, the top Ukraine expert on the National Security Council who listened to Trump's July 25 call with Zelenskiy; Jennifer Williams, an advisor to Vice President Pence who referred to the Trump call with Zelenskiy "unusual and inappropriate." Tuesday afternoon: Kurt Volker, the former special envoy to Ukraine who has talked about Rudy Giuliani's involvement in the Ukraine dealings; Timothy Morrison, former Russia and Europe director for the National Security Council who said he thought releasing a transcript of Trump's July 25 call would be damaging. Wednesday morning: Sondland, who is said to have told Trump that Zelenskiy agreed to open an investigation into Joe Biden, which Trump had sought. Wednesday afternoon: Laura Cooper, deputy assistant secretary of Defense; David Hale, undersecretary of State for political affairs. Thursday: Fiona Hill, former Russia advisor to Trump who has described former national security advisor John Bolton's unease with the administration's "shadow" Ukraine diplomacy; Embassy official David Holmes, who listened to a phone conversation between Trump and Sondland at a Kiev restaurant.   Also this week, perhaps by Thursday afternoon, House Democrats will likely formally ask that the Supreme Court reject Trump's appeal to stop them from getting his tax returns. And 10 Democratic presidential candidates will duke it out Wednesday in the latest primary debate. Will Pete Buttigieg continue to surge? Will Biden maintain his front-runner status? House to vote Tuesday to avoid a government shutdown for another month Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the White House has indicated President Donald Trump will sign a continuing resolution through Dec. 20. House Democrats are investigating whether Trump lied to special counsel Robert Mueller, reports say Trump's responses to Mueller drew new scrutiny last week during the criminal trial of Roger Stone, the longtime Republican political trickster who was found guilty of lying to Congress and witness tampering Friday.
