| Your credit card debt could be making you sick | | | | WED, OCT 23, 2019 | | | | Credit card debt is apparently the cause of a great deal of stress for many Americans. That is the conclusion of a recent study from Experian.
Color me not shocked. While U.S. adults have racked up of an average of $28,000 in overall personal debt, a leading source of that debt is actually credit card bills. To that point, the average American has three credit cards and carries a balance of about $6,500. I don't know about you, but if I carried that much credit card debt, I would never be able to sleep at night.
A recent survey found that consumers were more likely to stress over credit card debt than other major issues, such as climate change, raising their children or stock market volatility. Various studies have concluded that debt woes are directly associated with psychological distress and poor overall health.
While I am not a doctor, I can offer a remedy to help alleviate all this stress. It's actually very simple. Never put anything on your credit card that you can't pay for in full when the payment is due. By doing so, you are using your credit cards to live a lifestyle you simply can't afford.
It's time to start acting responsibly. Learn to live within your means and just put those credit cards away.
