| EDITOR'S NOTE
As a subscriber to CNBC's daily Evening Brief, you're now getting a bonus with the inaugural edition of our Weekend Brief.
Each weekend, we will offer a relevant rundown of the week that was, as well as a heads-up on market-moving events in the week ahead.
Weekend Brief will feature key insights from Michael Santoli, CNBC senior markets commentator. It also will bring you interviews and profiles of people with great investment strategies as well as headlines from some of CNBC's best enterprise reporting.
The market is well within striking distance of record highs, writes CNBC markets reporter Fred Imbert. Whether it gets there will depend on what comes from about 120 S&P 500 companies, or around 24%, that are scheduled to release their quarterly results in the week ahead.
CNBC's Pippa Stevens takes a deeper look at the companies that are about to file earnings to find who almost always tops expectations. And Santoli writes that if a recession were ominously approaching, "it would come as something of a surprise to the corporate-debt markets."
Still, just when you thought it was time to forget about that ugly bond market warning sign known as the inverted yield curve, it may be time to start worrying again. The curve is no longer inverted, but CNBC's Tom Franck explores why this may not be a good sign.
Finally in Weekend Brief, we're offering a new feature called "7Qs," a seven-question interview with interesting people we meet on the markets beat. Today, we feature Denver investment manager Fred Taylor, who talks about how he's adjusted his strategy amid the volatility we've seen over the past year.
We hope you'll enjoy Weekend Brief, and we'd love to hear your thoughts. Please email me at EveningBrief@nbcuni.com or message me on Twitter @tellittoal. Thanks for reading. And enjoy the weekend.
