Gates Foundation commits $2.1 billion over the next five years to gender equality

Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced this week that transgender people will soon be able to self-select their gender on passports without having to show a doctor's letter. The State Department will also add gender markers on passports for nonbinary, intersex and gender-nonconforming individuals. "Gender markers on passports are changing. Organizers of the Tokyo Olympics recently announced that athletes who are nursing will now be able to bring their babies with them to Japan, providing relief to new moms who are competing this year. "Breastfeeding athletes will be able to bring children to Tokyo Olympics" (USA Today)

Several months after refusing to consider her for tenure due to her work on The New York Times 1619 Project, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill announced that it will grant tenure to award-winning journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones.
