A NOTE FROM BOB
Confused about thematic investing? You like investing in FinTech, Disruptive Technology, Health Care Innovation, Sustainability, but not sure which ones to own or how much to allocate to each of them? There's a new ETF out that focuses on the consensus of ETF investors who are buying thematic ETFs. The Amplify Thematic All-Stars ETF (MVPS) is based on the ETF All-Stars Thematic Composite Index, which is run by Mike Akins ETF Action firm and began trading July 21st.
Join us on ETF Edge this Monday, when our guest will be Christian Magoon, CEO of Amplify ETFs, who will explain how the MVPS works. Also joining him is Jay Jacobs, head of Research and Strategies at thematic tech leader Global X. ETFedge.cnbc.com at 1 PM ET Monday!
We are close to record ETF inflows, according to my friend Todd Rosenbluth at CFRA Research. ETFs have seen $499 billion in inflows this year, Todd tells me, the record is $504B for the calendar year set in 2020. A new record will likely happen shortly. Most of it (nearly three-quarters) is inflows into equities.
Here's an interesting stat from Eric Balchunas at Bloomberg: Low volatility ETFs have had 17 straight months of outflows. This corresponds with the start of the pandemic. Low volatility offered no protection during the worst part of the pandemic, and these strategies have consistently underperformed since then.
Invesco's newest suite of multifactor products is pulling in significant assets. Three new ETFs track Quality, Value, and Momentum: the Invesco S&P 500 QVM Multi-Factor ETF (QVML), the Invesco S&P MidCap 400 QVM Multi-Factor ETF (QVMM), and the Invesco SmallCap 600 QVM Multi-Factor ETF (QVMS). All scores are averaged to get the multi-factor score. For more analysis and actionable insights, catch me live on Mondays at 1 PM ET on ETF Edge. KEY STORIES
