A NOTE FROM BOB
This Monday on ETF Edge: Reggie Brown from GTS, Harry Whitton from Old Mission, and Renato Leggi from Ark Invest discuss why the ETF business keeps growing, and why ARK Invest is one of big success stories in the growing world of actively managed ETFs. That's Monday at 1:05 PM ET on ETFEdge.cnbc.com.
More signs low cost trumps everything. Institutional investors are increasingly moving money into ETFs, but not just indexed ETFs, they are also choosing the lowest cost ETFs over other considerations like liquitidy and tighter spreads. Case in point: S&P 500 ETFs. Among the big competitors--Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO), iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV), and SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY), the biggest by far is SPY. But VOO and IVV have been attracting far more inflows. InvestmentNews believes it's because of the lower costs: SPY charges 9 basis points ($9 per $10,000 invested), VOO and IVV charge 3 basis points each.
