Economic pain, like the coronavirus pandemic itself, is not distributed evenly.
CNBC's John Schoen has mapped the latest, state-by-state, job-loss forecast from IHS Markit, showing where the crisis hurts the most. A new slate of jobless claims numbers are released Thursday and then comes the latest unemployment report on Friday. Nobody is expecting the numbers to be pretty.
Stocks fell sharply once again on Wednesday as predicting the peak of the coronavirus pandemic remains guesswork.
"There's still tremendous uncertainty," said Patrick Kaser, portfolio manager at Brandywine Global. "We can look at history as a guidepost for the market and the economy, but there's not a perfect scenario."
