| EDITOR'S NOTE
Hello,
Joe Biden, the front-runner for the Democratic nomination in 2020, is warning voters that the economy is in for some rough times.
"I hope it's not true, but we're likely to inherit a recession, at least a significant economic slowdown," Biden told CNBC's John Harwood in an interview this week in Iowa.
The former vice president was repeating the concern that the U.S. could be heading for a recession either in 2020 or soon thereafter. That would not be great for President Trump's reelection chances, to put it lightly.
Yet the jobs numbers released Friday indicate that the economy is still chugging along nicely. While much of the growth came from General Motors workers returning to work from a strike, there were gains across several industries. It might be hard to maintain these levels of increases, but Trump has to be happy that one of the bright spots of his presidency continues to glow as we head into 2020.
