International Flavors & Fragrances whiffs on results |
International Flavors & Fragrances posted its worst day on record after reporting revenues that came in slightly below estimates and cut its full-year outlook. The decline brought the stock to its lowest level since October. The stock has significantly underperformed the Materials Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLB) in the past twelve months, down 31% vs. the ETF's 5% decline.

A star in this semiconductor ETF |
The iShares U.S. Insurance ETF (IAK) finished lower today, but it notched an all-time high earlier in the session and is a clear outperformer on the week. Names like Axis Capital, Primerica, and American Equity are among the constituents trading at or near fresh highs. Progressive is one of its largest constituents and hit an all-time high yesterday.

Manchester United shares leap |
DraftKings before the Super Bowl | DraftKings' CEO Jason Robins is on in the 11 a.m. hour ET on CNBC. The stock is up 45% in 2023, even after falling 6.5% today. But it is down 34% off the high in March 2022. The stock was hit with a sell rating today at MKM Partners. DraftKings is the best performing stock in the gambling world this year. According to FactSet, 14 analysts think the stock is a buy. Three think it is a sell, and nine have it as a hold. The average price target is $20.25, and the stock sits at $16.53 tonight.

Another source of income for big real estate |
CNBC's real estate reporter Diana Olick will report on more millionaires renting than ever before on Friday. That means income for companies like Toll Brothers and AvalonBay. AvalonBay is 30% off its highs from 11 months ago, but it's up 11.6% in 2023. It has a 3.7% dividend. Toll Brothers is 7.7% from its high hit last month. The stock is up 16.8% in 2023. Other residential real estate investment trusts include Essex Property Trust, up 11.6% in 2023 with a 3.7% dividend, and Mid-America, up 9% in 2023 with a 3.3% dividend. Camden Property Trust is also up 9% in 2023 with a 3.3% dividend. The S&P Real Estate sector is up 8.3% in 2023 and ranks as the fourth best performing sector.

Trucking stocks are outperforming |
CNBC's Frank Holland picks up the trucking sector Friday. ArcBest is up 45% in 2023. Hub Group is up 20% in 2023. Old Dominion is up 25% in 2023. TFI International is up 24% in 2023. Schneider is up 24% in 2023. All of the above hit new highs this month. In comparison to those truckers, the Dow Jones Transports is up 12.5%.
| Retail and the Great American consumer |
Ralph Lauren and Tapestry both warned of a weakening consumer today in data compiled by CNBC's Harriet Taylor. Ralph Lauren's CEO called consumers "generally resilient" but also said "our more value-oriented consumer is obviously feeling the inflationary pressures and is having to be more discerning." Tapestry called North American consumers "cautious" and "more value-driven" and said the company is "seeing a more cautious consumer." Ralph Lauren is up 11% in 2023 and is 13.5% from a high. Tapestry hit a high earlier this month and is up 17.4% in 2023. The S&P Retailing Industry group is up 8.8% in 2023. It's 24.5% off the 52-week high. Consumer stock Ulta, however, hit an all-time high today. It is up 26% in three months.

Alphabet options activity |
There was a big spike today in options activity for Alphabet — more than four times the ten-day average. The stock is still 34% off the 52-week high, but it's up 7.7% in 2023. Shares are down almost 10% this week.

BorgWarner hit a 52-week high today. Ingersoll Rand hit a 52-week high today. Parker-Hannifin hit an all-time high today. Aerospace companies TransDigm and Howmet also hitting all-time highs again today.
