Join us on ETF Edge this Monday at 1 PM when our guests will be Todd Rosenbluth, head of research at VettaFi and Christian Magoon, CEO and Founder of Amplify. ETFEdge.cnbc.com! The FTX debacle may have another effect: a potential wave of liquidations in crypto-related Exchange Traded Products. Assets in crypto-focused products have plunged almost 72%, hovering around $22 billion as of mid-November, down from a peak of $78 billion in October of 2021, according to Bloomberg. The lack of a bitcoin ETF has become a real problem for many, including Grayscale Bitcoin Trust, which owns 3.5% of all the bitcoin in the world. ETFs are being traded on the NYSE floor. The PIMCO Active Bond Exchange-Traded Fund (BOND) began trading last Monday. Trading on the floor means Designated Market Makers (DMMs) will be able to participate in the opening and closing auctions, potentially adding liquidity. Index funds are not all the same. My friend Charles Rotblut at the American Association of Individual Investors (AAII) has produced an interesting study comparing equity and bond mutual funds and ETFs and the indexes they track. |
