A storm is coming. That's what JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon says. The chief executive of the largest bank in the U.S. by assets warned on Wednesday the economy is headed for a "hurricane." "You better brace yourself," Dimon said at a financial conference. "JPMorgan is bracing ourselves and we're going to be very conservative with our balance sheet." |
The cautious comments weighed on investor sentiment Wednesday as stocks closed lower in a rocky trading session. The major averages swung between gains and losses on the day. Ten out of 11 S&P 500 sectors were negative, led to the downside by financials with a nearly 1.7% decline. Energy was the one bright spot, up close to 1.8% as oil prices rose. |
