Stocks could see more tumult in the week ahead, as investors watch for new inflation data and keep an eye on rising bond yields.
The April consumer price index is released Wednesday. It is expected to show consumer prices jumped sharply, but less than in March, signaling a possible peak in inflation.
The bond market could continue to pressure equities, after a volatile week where the 10-year Treasury yield ran up sharply. Yields move higher when investors sell bonds, and inflation concerns and expectations for Federal Reserve rate hikes have been making bonds less attractive.
"The bond market is calling the tune here," said one strategist.
