A NOTE FROM BOB
Join me on Monday at 1 PM ET when my guest is investing legend Burton Malkiel, author of A Random Walk Down Wall Street, and ETF Trends Director of Research Dave Nadig as we discuss ESG, the rise of RobinHood, and why you still can't beat indexing and indexed ETFs. Malkiel was one of the first to ever note that an average investor should stick with index funds way back in 1973, when the first edition of Random Walk was published!
Speaking of ESGs ... Watch my interview with S&P's head of ESG, Mona Naqvi, at the CNBC Financial Advisor Conference, on why ESG is no longer a fad.
Marijuana legalization is on the ballot in several states. Guess what? Pot ETFs are getting a second wind. Don't exhale.
ETF/ETN closings: it's no big deal. Some people are saying it's a big deal there have been a lot of fund closures this year. There have been 212 exchange-traded products that have closed year to date through Oct. 16, higher than the 151 and 152 products in the prior two calendar years, according to CFRA's Todd Rosenbluth. But it's not a big deal: a good percent are Exchange Traded Notes (ETNs) closed during the recent market volatility (good riddance). The rest is just normal industry consolidation. There's plenty of new funds. Nasdaq Next Gen 100 (QQQJ) just launched last week and is seeing healthy flows and volumes. For more analysis and actionable insights, catch me live on Mondays at 1 PM ET on ETF Edge. KEY STORIES
