Warren Buffet finally enters the ETF business. It's small--only $25 million--but Buffett has invested the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO), and SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), in the final quarter of 2019, according to a regulatory filing. The investment is in a pension plan. It is Buffet's first foray into ETFs.
Space is hot. Virgin Galactic has had Tesla-like returns recently as interest in space heats up. Andrew Chanin, who runs the Procure Space ETF (UFO), was on ETF Edge this week, noting that satellite companies like Maxar were also a big part of the space rally. There's been a rush to safe havens in the wake of the coronavirus scare: the dollar is at a 3 yr high, Utilities at a historic high, and Gold, at a 7 yr high. Momentum investors have been piling into gold ETFs: gold holdings by "physically backed exchange-traded funds have risen for 12 consecutive business days," said BMO Capital Markets.
